Coordinator of the International Department / Special Projects Coordinator
Job Description:
Overall department coordination. Responsible for the smooth functioning of Sabeel's efforts to interface with the international community.
Duties include:
- Oversee events/programs planned by the department to ensure adherence to Sabeel's stated policy and vision
- Speak to groups both locally and abroad regarding Sabeel and its efforts to promote peace with justice
- Schedule, coordinate, and implement seminars and conferences for international visitors to stimulate interest and increase public awareness of Sabeel and its work
- Work with Friends of Sabeel staff person to:
- assist in coordinating and promoting international events with coordinators abroad
- coordinate efforts to promote concurrent events internationally
- help establish new FOS groups and chapters internationally- Work with staff in responding to international correspondence
- Supervise, evaluate staff members and participate in the process of hiring new staff
- Evaluate departmental programs/activities and recommend modifications
Coordination of Ahlan wa Sahlan pilgrims' program.
Assist a staff member to:
- develop and publicize programs
- plan and book packages
- coordinate and plan logistics with local partners; i.e., cultural activities/meals
- speak to program participants as part of the “Meet the Palestinians” packages
- plan, design, and implement course to train speakers for the speakers' bureau
- help with the set up and selling of items at events
- analyze program and plan for future modifications
Special Projects
- Create and develop promotional, educational, and advertising materials for Sabeel and Friends of Sabeel; e.g, exhibit, calendars, cards
Required Qualifications:
- Education: University degree: Master's degree preferred
- Proven administrative record, and strong organizational skills
- Ability to set priorities, manage multiple demands, and solve problems in a team environment
- Language proficiency in English and Arabic
- High level of initiative, organization and attention to detail
- Demonstrated computer proficiency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Interest and experience in working on social justice issues and raising awareness on human rights issues, specifically in the Palestine/Israel context
- Coursework or training in theological studies a plus, or an interest in Christian Liberation Theology and Ecumenism
